Winter walking in South Tyrol is a very special experience, particularly if you enjoy the clear view of the surrounding mountains on a sunny day and if you can feel the fresh mountain air filling up your lungs. Outside our hotel in Siusi/Seis you find a great many hiking trails; alternatively take the cable car up to Alpe di Siusi/Seiser Alm. The trail network on Alpe di Siusi/Seiser Alm offers a total of 30 km of hiking trails.

Discover the snow-covered Dolomites on perfectly marked and groomed hiking trails. All you need is good, water-proof boots and possibly a pair of hiking poles.

Take your time to explore the marvellous winter scenery in the Dolomites with the surrounding peaks Sciliar/Schlern, Sassolungo/Langkofel and Sassopiatto/Plattkofel. This magical snowy winter wonderland will be the stage for your unforgettable holiday experiences.

There are many quaint, traditional Alpine huts on Alpe di Siusi/Seiser Alm, such as the Mahlknecht hut, the Tirler mountain inn, the Zallinger or the traditional Gostner Schwaige. Here you get to enjoy a well-deserved rest after an extensive hiking tour, soak up the sun on the terrace and recharge your batteries for the way back with traditional culinary specialties such as kaiserschmarrn and cheese dumplings.

À propos way back: what do you think about combining your winter walk with a fun toboggan run? The holiday region Alpe di Siusi/Seiser Alm offers 23 km of toboggan tracks, separated on a total of 11 toboggan runs, offering something for everyone, no matter tall or small! If you did not bring your own toboggan to your holiday near the Alpe di Siusi/Seiser Alm or if you do not want to pull it up the mountain, you can hire one for free or at a small fee at the local Alpine huts. All set, you are off to go and hit the tracks of the perfectly groomed natural toboggan run!

Snowshoeing on Alpe di Siusi/Seiser Alm

Snowshoeing through the snow-covered Dolomites is an experience to remember. The snowshoes prevent your feet from sinking in and the slow pace of a winter walk offers plenty of opportunity to enjoy the panoramic views and the peaceful stillness. Here you get to walk off track, across forests and over the sunny hills of the avalanche-free Alpe di Siusi/Seiser Alm.

We provide free equipment hire for your snowshoeing hikes as well as three guided tours per week on Alpe di Siusi/Seiser Alm. The guided snowshoe hikes are extremely popular. Together, we enjoy South Tyrol’s peaceful and quiet nature, follow animal tracks in the snow and take in the wonderful silence; besides we also find powerful spiritual places which are common on Alpe di Siusi/Seiser Alm. Many popular tales tell of the local witches and wizards; in fact, century-old archaeological finds have been made in the area which testify the presence of cult and offering sites thousands of years ago.
